Overview
I'm a user experience designer who's passionate about making things easy to use. I'm employed full time with Happy Cog as a senior experience designer. Currently I live and work in the Philadelphia area.
I graduated in 2004 from The College of New Jersey with a BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts). I entered the field as a front end developer/designer and gradually migrated to the user experience practice.
Professional Background
I have a diverse background in graphic design, front end development, and user experience. I've been designing websites in some capacity or another since 2002, and I continue to find it fascinating and challenging.
My current strengths/areas of focus include:
- Interaction Design
- Information Architecture
- Usability Testing and User Research
- Prototyping
- Online Strategy
Community Involvement and Research
In 2009 and 2010, I held an officer position with PhillyCHI, a volunteer-run organization serving the Philadelphia user experience community.
I'm highly interested in the subject of gender and design, particularly designing for women. History has shown us a wealth of products and services designed for women; some have seen success, and others have flopped miserably. It fascinates me that we as designers still struggle to design for women. This is a topic I'm currently researching, and I hope to present my findings to the community some time in 2011.
Personal Life
I'm an avid reader and have always loved music. I'm passionate about health and wellness and the impact of the industrial food system on our lives and our environment. I'm also a huge fan of the TV show Forensic Files.
